BioCAN Coordinator Dr. Miķelis Kirpļuks represented the project at BiPoCo 2026 – the 6th International Conference on Bio-based Polymers & Composites, held in Budapest, Hungary, on 24–27 August 2026.

Miķelis presented “Design of Reprocessable Bio-Based Thermosets from Used Cooking Oil-Derived Building Blocks”, highlighting innovative approaches to developing more sustainable and reprocessable bio-based thermosetting materials.

The conference also provided a platform for broader discussions on nature-inspired innovation and sustainable materials. BioCAN Coordinator Miķelis Kirpļuks joined the “Inspired by Nature” panel as a panelist, contributing his expertise to the discussion on how principles derived from nature can inspire innovative approaches to materials development. The exchange brought together different perspectives on the potential of bio-based and nature-inspired solutions to address current environmental and technological challenges.

The conference provided an excellent opportunity to share BioCAN-related research with the international scientific community, exchange ideas with researchers working on bio-based polymers and composites, and strengthen collaboration in the field.
